Recap: EURO 2024 Qualifiers

Recap EURO 2024 Qualifiers

Group A

In Group A, Scotland remain at the top after also winning their 5th match 0-3 against Cyprus.
On their heels is now Spain, who could force a catch-up by winning 6-0 against the same Cyprus.
In 3rd place is Norway, who could run out of Georgia by 3 points.
Last but not least is Cyprus, which could not win any of its 5 matches yet.

Group B

France remains lonely at the top in Group B. With 15 points, it is 6 points ahead of 2nd-placed Netherlands.
The Netherlands took on Greece and won convincingly 3-0. However, that Greece won 5-0 over Gibraltar a few days later.
Ireland had to meet the two giants France and the Netherlands, which thus also led to two defeats.
In this group, Gibraltar is in last place. Like Cyprus, it could not win a single match yet.

Group C

Once again, a top country is in the lead alone: England, with its 13 points, has a reasonable lead over Italy, Ukraine and North Macedonia, each with 7 points. It already certainly has nothing to fear from Malta: the Mediterranean country could not win a single match yet.

Group D

It looks to be exciting between Croatia and Turkey: they both have 10 points and their goal difference is 9 and 8 respectively. However, Croatia still has a match remaining. They only played four matches; Turkey already five.
Armenia and Wales are also going neck and neck. With 7 points and goal difference of 8 and 6, they are currently in 3rd and 4th place.
And also in this group, there is a country that could not win a single match yet: Estonia is yet to look for its first victory.

Group E

Poland cannot live up to its reputation so far. It lost last week against Albania and is currently in 4th place. Albania is doing very well, with 10 points from five matches.
The Czech Republic and Moldova are in 2nd and 3rd place with 8 points each. The Faroe Islands are at the bottom with barely 1 point.

Group F

Belgium finishes the matchday nicely by finishing in first place. By winning 5-0 against Estonia, they scored just that one goal that pushes Austria into 2nd place.
That strong Austria were able to win 1-3 against Sweden last week, which did give them the same number of points as Belgium: 13.
Sweden are not doing as well as they would like, but can still work their way up if they play well in the next few games. For Azerbaijan and Estonia, it looks like it won’t work out: with barely 1 point, they are in the last two places.

Group G

Hungary and Serbia are on a strong campaign, with 10 points each. Hungary does need to play one more match than its neighbour, though.
Just below them is Montenegro, which with its 8 points does not need much to move up the table.
Bulgaria and Lithuania will have to put in a little more effort, they both have only 2 points yet.

Group H

It promises to be very exciting in this group, as the first four teams are roughly equal. Slovenia and Denmark are in first and second place with 13 points, after both countries were able to win twice last week.
The next two countries are Finland and Kazakhstan. They both gained 12 points so far, and achieved one win last week but also suffered a defeat.
So Northern Ireland and San Marino have very little chance of making it to the top. These countries have 3 and 0 points respectively.

Group I

Also in this group, there are 3 countries going into the next matchday neck-and-neck. Switzerland are top with 14 points, while Romania are second with 12 points and Israel with 11 points. The latter two will need to score a lot more goals if they are to equal Switzerland, though, as their goal difference has already reached 17.
Two other countries, Belarus and Kosovo, both have 4 points and are therefore fighting mainly for the 4th place. The country Andorra is at the very bottom with 2 points.

Group J

The untouchable Portugal is on top with a perfect score, and a goal difference of up to 24 goals.
Slovakia and Luxembourg, the 2nd and 3rd places, follow slowly with scores of 13 and 10 points.
Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iceland both have 6 points, they too are fighting for 4th place in this group. At the very bottom we find Liechtenstein, who won just 1 point over the whole of their stretch.
