From Tuesday, October 24, we can once again enjoy some European matches. There are several teams in the Champions League, Europa League and the European Conference League that can take the lead during this match day. So it promises to be an interesting week with only the best European teams.
Champions League
On October 24, Galatasaray will play against Bayern Munich on home soil. Bayern, who currently sit 1st in their group and 3rd in the Bundesliga, are playing a perfect course so far. Galatasaray surprised last time against Manchester United, which is still in last place with 0 points. They will therefore also want to continue that good pattern. That Manchester United will try to finally pick up a few points against Copenhagen.
RC Lens is doing very well in group B, and is currently in first place. Although Arsenal are hot on their heels. The English team may play against Sevilla this week. RC Lens must keep its leading position against PSV.
Real Madrid has already achieved 6 out of 6 so far, and can continue that trend against Braga tonight. That Braga has the same number of points as Napoli, second in the group. But Napoli has to face Union Berlin tonight, which has not yet been able to pick up any points. So there probably won’t be many shifts in the table, but the lead of the two leading teams could only increase.
Inter Milan will play against RB Salzburg tonight, while Real Sociedad will take on Benfica. Inter and Real currently have 4 points, so if one of them wins, it will automatically go to first place.
Atlético Madrid and Lazio are also joint 1 with 4 points. And they also do not have to play against each other directly this week, but they do play against each other indirectly for the leadership spot.
In group F, strong Newcastle will this time face BVB Dortmund, which is in last place. Newcastle was able to beat PSG last time, which only needs 1 point to catch up. They will try to get that point on their own field against AC Milan.
Manchester City is 3 points ahead of 1, and can increase that lead if they win against Young Boys. RB Leipzig must try to catch up on Manchester City, and will have the opportunity to do so against Red Star.
Antwerp urgently needs to get some points in group H. They play an important match tomorrow against Porto, which is currently in second place. Overtaking Barcelona seems an impossible task, also because they will probably only increase their lead when they play Shakhtar Donetsk tomorrow.
Europa League
During the previous match day, all matches in group B ended in a draw. This week, however, numbers 1 and 2 play against each other, AEK Athens and Olympique Marseille. If Marseille can win, it will go top. But Athens won’t want to give up their lead anytime soon.
Union will play against LASK Linz on Thursday, October 26. The Brussels club is currently in 3rd place and needs at least 3 points to move up one spot. And then they also have to hope that Toulouse cannot win against Liverpool. But the French club also really wants to get on top, and will do so if they can win in England.
AS Roma also plays an interesting match against Slavia Prague. On Thursday the two will come face to face on Italian soil for the leadership spot. They are currently at the top together, with both 6 points.
European Conference League
In group B, Ghent will play against Breidablik on Thursday, October 26. The Icelandic club has not yet been able to win a single point after two games, and that will also be a difficult task against Ghent. Ghent is currently in first place with 4 points. Zorya Luhansk, which is in second place, will not play against Maccabi Tel-Aviv until November 9.
