Chelsea
This is Chelsea’s third appearance in the Club World Cup. In 2012, they reached the final but lost to Brazilian side Corinthians. In 2021, they won the tournament by defeating Palmeiras. The Blues entered this tournament with high confidence, after winning the Conference League and finishing in the Premier League’s top four under manager Enzo Maresca. Chelsea has established itself as a dominant force in English football, and under Maresca—formerly an assistant to Pep Guardiola—they seem to be starting a new chapter.
However, it’s clear that Chelsea are not the favorites going into this World Cup final. The Blues had a relatively easy draw, finishing second in their group. While they impressed with a 1-4 victory over Benfica in the knockout rounds, the London side hasn’t shown much to intimidate the Parisians.
Chelsea still has a shot at glory, but we’ll only know for sure once the game is underway. Chelsea player Pedro Neto is currently on three goals and could still finish as the tournament’s top scorer. Additionally, the British team boasts the tournament’s assist leader: Enzo Fernandez. The world also witnessed the emergence of a powerful debutant in the semi-final against Fluminense: Joao Pedro. With two beautiful goals, he fired his new team into the final.
Paris Saint-Germain

Following a stunning 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the semifinals, they now once again find themselves in the final of a major tournament. PSG’s season has been nothing short of dominant: after becoming the first French club to win a continental treble (league title, domestic cup, and Champions League), the Parisian stars now have a chance to claim a historic quadruple.
That said, PSG’s season started off shakily, with numerous squad changes. Even the group stage of their Champions League campaign wasn’t smooth, with one draw and three losses in their first eight matches. But in the knockout phase, the team bounced back and displayed exceptional form. They eliminated Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal—three English teams. They also went unbeaten in the Ligue 1 season. That form carried over into the Club World Cup, where they topped their group and went on to eliminate Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
The midfield trio of Joao Neves, Vitinha, and Fabián Ruiz is crucial for PSG. In attack, Ousmane Dembélé is a key player. His connection with Bradley Barcola will be essential to break through Chelsea’s defense and find the feet of Kvicha Kvaratskhelia. In goal stands Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has been in excellent form on the road to the final.
