Starting from Tuesday, April 9th, the quarter-finals of the Champions League will commence. In the most important international club football tournament, the search for the winner is nearing its conclusion. At the end of next week, we will find out who advances to the semi-finals, once the second-leg matches are played.

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich

Arsenal is having a very good season, leading the English Premier League and securing a place in the Champions League quarter-finals. During the group stage, they were the best among four teams, maintaining a 4-point lead over PSV. In the round of 16, they initially lost to Porto but managed to overturn the deficit in their own stadium. The match was decided by penalties, with Arsenal winning 4-2.

Bayern Munich currently occupies second place in the Bundesliga, and catching up with Leverkusen will be quite challenging. Therefore, they will certainly strive to win a European trophy. They performed well in the group stage, maintaining an 8-point lead over Copenhagen. In the round of 16, Bayern lost by the narrowest margin to Lazio Roma but secured a 3-0 victory at the Allianz Arena.

The teams will play at the Emirates Stadium in England on Tuesday, April 9th. A week later, on Wednesday, April 17th, they will play at the Allianz Arena.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City

‘The Royal’ leads the Spanish La Liga with a solid 8-point lead over eternal rival Barcelona. With several matches remaining, their victory is not yet certain, but it seems likely that they will clinch the title. In addition to the league title, they can also secure another Champions League title. In the group stage, they won all their matches, maintaining an 8-point lead over Napoli. In the round of 16, they outperformed RB Leipzig.

Manchester City currently sits in third place in the Premier League but still has enough opportunities to catch up with Arsenal and Liverpool. They may face Arsenal in the semi-finals, but first, they will have to overcome Real Madrid. Like Madrid, the ‘Cityzens’ won all their matches in the group stage. In the round of 16, they won twice against Copenhagen with a score of 3-1.

The first leg will be played in Spain, at Real Madrid’s stadium, on Tuesday, April 9th. The second leg will take place in England on Wednesday, April 17th.

PSG vs Barcelona

In Ligue 1, PSG leads with a 10-point advantage over Brest. While their performance in the French top flight has been strong, it faltered somewhat in the group stage of the Champions League, with PSG finishing second behind Dortmund. Fortunately for the Parisians, they remained ahead of Milan and Newcastle, securing advancement to the next round. There, they faced Real Sociedad and won 4-1 overall.

Barcelona urgently needs to accumulate points to catch up with Real Madrid, but it seems like an impossible task. However, they may have an opportunity in the Champions League if they can defeat PSG. In the group stage, Barcelona emerged as the strongest team, finishing level on points with Porto in first place. As a result, they advanced to the round of 16, where they defeated Napoli 4-2 overall.

Barcelona will first visit Paris on Wednesday, April 10th. A week later, the Parisians will travel to Barcelona for the second leg on Tuesday, April 16th.

Atletico Madrid vs BVB Dortmund

With top clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona as rivals, La Liga is a fierce competition. Yet, Atletico Madrid often performs strongly, currently occupying fourth place, trailing Barcelona by 9 points. They cannot win the Spanish title anymore, so they are aiming for a European title. In the group stage, they finished ahead of Lazio Roma, and in the round of 16, their matches against Inter Milan had to be decided by penalties.

Dortmund is a strong contender in German football and currently sits in fifth place. They may still surpass Bayern Munich, the Rekordmeister, but leader Leverkusen is too far ahead. Like Atletico, they are also aiming for a European victory. They started well, leading Group F with PSG and Milan. In the round of 16, they faced PSV and won 3-1 overall.

The first leg will be played in Madrid on Wednesday, April 10th. The second leg will take place in Germany on Tuesday, April 16th.
